What have you made?

An extra worktop in the kitchen that should serve as a 'coffee corner'. So it will be the place for the Nespresso with all accessories. The top had to meet a number of requirements: rounded corners and edges; can be hung fairly invisibly and can withstand a knock.

How did you make the worktop?

First sand it with 180 sandpaper to get it nice and smooth. Then apply the first layer of clear, matte Glitsa parquet lacquer for intensive use with a lacquer roller. The great thing about this polish is that you only see it when it has just been applied. Then it shines. But when it dries, it is as if the wood is unprocessed. Lightly sand between coats with fine sandpaper (320). I applied a total of 3 coats. That seems sufficient to me, given that the parquet varnish is for intensive use, it must withstand a bit of pushing a coffee cup back and forth and some spilled water. I got the supports from the Metaalwinkel (Rotterdam). They have aluminum supports that can withstand a very heavy load and are relatively slim, so without cross connections. White paint over them and they are hardly noticeable anymore. And they are also cheaper than comparable supports from the hardware store.

What are the dimensions?

The dimensions are 110.0 cm wide, 40.0 cm deep. The plank itself is 26mm thick.

What now?

This is a project for inspiration. Because our assortment has changed, (some of) the products are no longer available.
