For the "Le Petit" according to Jean Hiraga, I looked up the plans on the Internet and ordered the parts from TOSIZE.es. Delivery was quick and the cutting was precise. Unlike many others, I decided not only to glue the individual panels together, but also to connect them with wooden dowels. This way I could be sure that nothing would slip when the panels were clamped together. After the glue had dried, I sawed the holes for the bass reflex tubes and the speakers. The boxes were then sanded using an orbital sander and 150/200 grit sandpaper to a) remove any excess glue and b) make the edges of the MDF panels as smooth as possible. Before the back cover was put on, the bass reflex tubes were shortened according to the instructions and glued in with hot glue. Then the inside of the boxes was completely insulated with 10mm industrial wool felt. Then the back covers were put on (after drilling holes for the pole terminals) and the whole thing was doweled and glued. Sanded again and all butt edges filled with 2-component filler. After the drying time, the boxes were sanded completely smooth again. Next the primer was applied (primer for MDF from the hardware store) and then 3 coats of varnish (water-based furniture varnish, RAL 6033). The type plates and the labels for the terminals are made of beech plywood that I laser-labeled and then coated with clear varnish. The labels are attached with superglue. Once everything was dry, the cables were soldered to the pole terminals and, after screwing them in, connected to the speakers and these were screwed to the housing with Allen wood screws. How I made this project
I had the great advantage that my hobby workshop is now very well equipped. However, this is not absolutely necessary for this project. If you have a jigsaw and a cordless drill, you already have all the machines you need to build the speakers. Otherwise, you can get everything else in any hardware store. Sandpaper, glue, paint, foam rubber rollers for painting. All in all, no magic and a really nice project to immerse yourself in the world of high fidelity.
